I Don't Think the Navy Pays for Weave...

...and the many other "out of pocket" expenses of today.

Needless to say...

Today was my first day back at work (with students) after our fabulous Christmas vacation. I have gone from teaching Seniors for the past 2 years to now teaching Freshmen this semester. Today was quite interesting...hence the title of the post. Short version of the story...one girl was telling me she was from Hawaii (an Army brat) and the girl next to her piped in that she is going to join the Navy because they pay for everything. Now...this was the cutest little girl who had the most amazing hair...looked like a Barbie doll's...and without missing a beat...I replied...but I don't think they pay for weave. These kids should be a riot.

So I spent much of my day answering the questions of 14 year olds about when I am due, what I am having, what I am naming them, etc. It was nice and it made me smile. It was weird hearing the words "almost 6 months pregnant" come out of my mouth. For so long I have dreamed of that and now the countdown is on to maternity leave! What?!? I thought it was interesting that in one of my classes I had two sets of boy/girl twins (well half of each set). Weird huh?

I am definitely standing like a pregnant girl now...resting my hands on my belly while talking and teaching. Didn't realize I was doing that! Haven't quite started to "waddle", but I am sure it is only a matter of time. All day I kept thinking about getting to pick up the cribs...but alas...they did not arrive. Maybe tomorrow.

Nick and I started talking about how we need to get the ball rolling on our "to-do" list...these little ones will be here before we know it! Our list looks something like this...

- Get carpets cleaned
- Get air ducts cleaned (old house plus a remodel equals tons o' dust)
- Replace windows in the nursery (never was done from the remodel)
- New blinds
- Choose paint color
- Paint
- Crown moulding (wish list)
- Cribs
- Dresser/Changing Table
- Glider
...and sadly we may have to give up on our hopes of our "dream" upholstered glider recliner and go with a bargain chair. Just can't see paying $800 for the chair and ottoman when we have to pay for all of the above plus...

- Doctor's fees for delivery
- Hospital fees
- Circumcision fee (don't think I could explain this one down the road...sorry honey...we couldn't afford to pay for your circumcision, but we had one hell of a chair in the nursery!)
- Pay to have the bumper replaced on the SUV (my fault...backed into our other car in the driveway...$600...nice) so that we can sell it and buy a (gasp) minivan.

Overall a good day...but an exhausting one. This semester should be interesting and fun...but I am looking forward to Spring Break because these little babies will be making their debut right around that time! YAY!

Umm.. how much is the circumcision fee? Does insurance not pay for that? That is definately not in our budget!!
I can't believe you're already 6 months along, how exciting :)

they might not pay for a weave, but I've seen them (or at least the Air Force) pay for a boob job on MORE then on occasion.... they just have to meet with a counselor at least 3 times in six months saying they have poor self image, and that they don't think their husband loves them, and do what the counselor says (read a book, work out) for those few months, still have low self esteem... let's just give you those knockers you so desire.... because that will fix your marriage! :) HA! I laugh, but it's sadly true!

It is kind of fun seeing the "to do" list...makes it all just seem so real and exciting. We are also planning on putting up crown molding in the baby's room...good luck with all your to do items. Keep us posted as you check each item off!

Won't insurance cover most of the hospital related fees? I think mine does...

However, the $800 glider might be just as nice as a cheaper one :) Yall are so savings savvy, I know you'll figure it out!

SPRING BREAK? Really? Gosh, I didn't realize they'd be here in April...

Crazy what a difference a year makes :) So glad we have become friends!!

yes...you WILL start to waddle. I thought it wouldn't happen to MEEE...but, of course, it has.

We have given up all hopes and dreams of the upholstered $800 glider as well. Sigh...not even sure we have ROOM for a small wooden one, but we're going for it. :)

Still holding out for a BOB jogging stroller though...Santa could still come in Feb. right??
