Sorry to admit it, but the last time I was in church was a month ago.
But...
We got up this morning and made the trip downtown. I am so glad we did.
I was having a hard time following the sermon, perhaps it was because
1) our row was almost skipped during communion and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But, when the lady sitting next to me passed me a note saying "I thought they had given up on us" I decided on laughter...
and/or
2) the hard wooden pew was causing even more pressure on my full bladder before I finally gave in to a bathroom trip during the last hymn.
Either way...at one point I tuned in long enough to hear our Pastor refer to Phillipians 4:6 and it was just what I needed to hear. I reached down to write it on a prayer card and wouldn't you know it...there it was already printed on the card.
It says...
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
I am trying to depart from my worry-wart ways and turn my worries into prayers.
Lord knows I could worry less and pray more and today He couldn't have put it any more plainly.

On a somewhat related note...
My 9-year-old sister has also been doing some praying lately...
We were on the way home from dinner this weekend and she was telling my mom that she wanted, no needed, a cell phone...for emergencies.
Anyway...my mom explained to her that it would only happen if and when she received all A's on her report card. (We are relatively safe there.)
She promptly went to prayer...
"Dear Jesus...please help me get a cell phone." I loved it. She is hilarious...and I'm sure she was praying for those good grades too, but nevertheless...cracked us up.

Yay for going to church! Isn't it amazing how things fall in to place when you need it the most? (Wouldn't it be nice if procreating could fall in to place when we want it to??)
I really like that scripture you referenced. Sometimes we just have to remember that it is all in the Lord's hands and we have to put our faith and trust in that.
i have written it down..........i am certainly in need of that specific prayer.....keep me on your prayer list. thank you for you post.........
