For example...
Baby Step #1 - $1000 emergency fund
check.
Baby Step #2 - Debt Snowball
working it.
Baby Step #3 - Fully funded emergency fund (3-6 months expenses)
not yet.
And the "Baby Steps" keep going.
We feel as though the entire process has been so rewarding...both figuratively and literally. Since we have been following the Dave Ramsey plan we have:
- Found $5 in the grocery store (this went straight to the offering plate...no bad karma needed here)
- Our RE audited our account...$12 refund check
- We didn't have to pay Uncle Sam this year...$300 refund
- Another RE audit...$74 refund check
- Called Comcast and they gave us the "introductory rate" just for asking (Option #4 if you're interested)
- And...I won $80 in our family basketball pool on a bracket that took me less than 5 minutes to fill out! (Yes...I am THAT far ahead...thanks Louisville!)
But...ultimately the $500 "found" in the past couple of months doesn't put a dent in the expenses we are facing in the near future. I wonder what Dave Ramsey would say about financing the chance to have a baby. I struggle with this daily. Ultimately, in the world of infertility time isn't on your side. Waiting is becoming less and less of an option.
I am not sure that our desire for "Baby Steps" fits in to his "Baby Steppin' plan".

What's the debt snowball step?
I think good ol' Dave would understand the need to finance the chance to have a baby. Although, he'd probably encourage you to raise money through yard sales, etc to help.
Just my 2 cents! :) (i'm sooo cheesey...)
Cheesecake is probably not on Dave's plan - but...it will most defintitel help!
Debt snowball is paying off your smallest debt first while paying the minimums on the rest. Then taking the what you were paying on the smallest debt and adding it to the next. Hence...a snowball effect.
I am planning on having a yard sale next week! Great minds think alike!
:)
I have listened to his show before and while I don't follow his plan (although I probably should) I have asked myself that same question. I don't know if he would support financing fertility treatments since he doesn't seem to support financing anything, but sometimes we just don't have a choice in these matters if we want to have a family. I think if he were in our shoes, he'd do the same thing although he wouldn't admit it on the radio.
