No Surprise...

I changed my mind. I think I do want to pump...at work. Gasp.

So here are two questions I have for you pumping/breastfeeding mommies...

1. Did you share a pump with a friend?
(I have a friend who has generously given me hers to borrow, but the lactation nurses at the hospital made me feel as though this was a big no-no. I just don't see how any of the milk could get into that machine. I have all of my own parts...tubing, etc.)

2. Where did you find good nursing tanks?
(I need something that keeps my tummy covered b/c I am going to have to give up wearing these maternity shorts eventually...darn it. I will also be layering the tanks under other shirts. Please let me know if you have any good recs.)

Thanks!

Hey! I pop over to your blog to see what is going on with you from time to time... we went to high school together but I don't know if you would remember me. Anyway all that to say I have a 6 month old and I nurse him. I use my best friends pump and the nurse at the hospital made me feel the same way. My thought is they re-use the pumps at the hospital why can't I at home. I watch when I pump and none has ever gone in. The nursing tanks well I don't use nursing ones. I use the ones that have adjustable straps so I can just leave it loose and pull it down when I need it. I also bought it a little big so that way its not too snug. Anyway I hope this helps.

Glad you are pumping! I just weaned myself off the pump. I think it should be fine to use your friend's pump, especially if you have your own parts.

As far as nursing tanks, I bought some from Walmart that I wore at night time. I loved them and they were inexpensive.

If you have your own parts, I don't see why it would be a big deal to share the actual machine.

I love my nursing tanks from Target (actually more than the ones I bought at Motherhood - for much more money!). I quit nursing about a month ago, but I still wear my nursing tanks, just because they are comfy and supportive! :)

Target has a decent selection of nursing tanks. I like the Bravado ones. They are on the expensive side but good support.

I agree with Brittany, I love the $8 Merona Cami's fromt target-( not nursing tanks)but great, thin, long enough and awesome for layering...they can easily be pulled down under your boob so you can get the job done ; ) I have them in white, black, pink, nude etc...lots of cheap options (Maybe they would even go well with jean shorts haha!)

I bought my own pump, because I heard that really the only ones that can be shared are the hospital-grade ones. I know you can rent them from the hospitals, but my insurance covered 100% of the cost of my pump, which was fabulous! So no need to rent; I just bought!

Girl, I have an almost 3 year old, and I STILL wear my target nursing tanks!!! :o)

I bought my own pump, but only because my SIL had already sold hers, or I would have just borrowed. As long as you have your own parts you are totally okay. All sharing does is void the warranty anyway, which at this point with Medela is only 90 days from the day of purchase. Chances are the warranty has already expired!
Moving on to nursing tanks - my twins are 10 months old and I have been pumping since day 1 - there are nursing tanks at Motherhood that actually work as a bit of a tummy shaper - AMAZING. A bit pricey I'll admit at $25 a piece, but they are way better than the others I've tried. I wear nursing tanks every single day and haven't worn a nursing bra since 3 days after delivery. I love the tanks that much!
Good for you for deciding to pump at work! I hope it's a good experience for you! I love being able to provide my milk for my girls even when I'm not around. You go momma!

I have no clue how I found your blog but I like it and just wanted to comment!! I wear the cheap Target nursing tanks and would totally share my pump as long as you have your own parts!

Borrow the pump! No biggie. And I give a third (or 4th?) vote to target nursing tanks. Still wearing mine and haven't nursed in 9 months!

Target tanks work great... I think I use the Gillian & O'Malley ones.

Hey - I have a borrowed pump too. Also, I have some maternity tank tops from Kohls and I live in them - pregnant or not :)
